Perfect Snack for those Midnight Writing Sessions

I know who you are. You're one of those writer's that stay up until 1 or 2 am trying to get your word count in for the day. You figure as long as you haven't fallen asleep, it isn't tomorrow yet. That's you, isn't it?

Because I can understand. Hey, when the muse bites, you can't deny the beast, right?

Well, here's what happens in those midnight writing sessions...

You get hungry.

And you can't ignore it, can you? That tormenting feeling pulling at your stomach and you just can't get another word in until you have just a little something to tide you over. The lasagna from the other night would be too much. Crackers would crunch too loud. And those boring cheese sticks leave way too much to be desired.

How about a snack that has natural ingredients, is vegan, contains raw oils, and has just enough sweet to it to satisfy that urge?

Today, I bring to you the Hail Merry Macaroons! (Didn't expect that coming did you?)

I received three flavors I want to introduce to you - the Strawberry Almond, Caramel Sea Salt Macaroons, and Blonde Macaroons.

First, the Strawberry Almond. This is a perfect flavor for those novels or stories or poems that are light and sweet themselves.

We all know those stories and just connect with them in a way that isn't quite so intense as the mysteries or horrors or fantasies. The small soft little cookie has a pink tinge, and just the lightest sweet flavor. Unlike most sweet treats, you aren't whopped over the head with the fact that you are having a sugary snack. This carries with it the idea that you are indulging in the most graceful way, much like what your character's strive for (but then, characters aren't always graceful, are they?).

The Caramel Sea Salt Macaroons cry for adventure. They are for the swashbuckling pirate stories, the take me away fantasies, and the lurking around the corner mysteries. This has a stronger sweet flavor, but it's quickly balanced out with the undertone of saltiness (kind of like when you drop peanuts into a coke bottle). This is perfect with coffee as you urge out those last few words before sleep takes over and it's even better when you are wide awake and can actually remember what you are eating (and writing).

Finally, the Blonde Macaroons. The Blonde Macaroons are perfect for your freewriting sessions. They allow you to get lost in your mindset with their light texture, and gentle flavor. With these sweet treats, you can let the creativity flow and satisfy those hunger pangs, without having to conquer external distractions.

Of all the ones I tried, the Strawberry Almond were my personal favorite. If you ever need a snack stash for your writing corner, or just a gift idea (it is that time of year, isn't it?), you will want to give the Hail Merry Macaroons a try. Click this link for information on where you can purchase these in your area, or click this link to purchase a gift for the writer (or sweet toothed person) in your family. Or for yourself. Go on, you know you want to.

Disclaimer: I received samples of these three flavored macaroons mentioned above in exchange for my honest review.

  1. This comes just in time for NaNoWriMo! I'm not up at midnight, thankfully, but doing my writing between 9-11 pm - when my sweet tooth kicks in. Thanks, Nicole

    1. It is!!! That's about the time I write as well and this is the perfect time for that kind of treat! :)

I love comments! The good, the bad, and the ugly, so tell me what you have to say! And if you like what you read (or at least find yourself entertained), follow my blog to read more. Although I'm not always able to respond to comments immediately, I appreciate every one of them.
