Let's be honest, I have a terrible time finding just the right items to add to my home that give it a certain flair to it. I remember a coworker gave me a vase once, and good-NESS this was bland. Bland color, bland design. I still have it, but it sort of irks me that they would have me this choice.
I discovered Emerson Pottery recently and I just love what I see. They are handmade items, made in the USA, and based out of Virginia. You can tell by looking at their website that each item is made with love, care, and creative inspiration. They have been in business since 1977 and to be honest, this is a place that I wish I could see in person. Their website describes the stores with an old fashioned log house feel, and I imagine if I was inside it would feel just like I wanted to hunker down, cozy up with a blanket and have someone tell me a story by the fire.
Anyways, when you peruse their website, you can find just about anything there. I find myself quite fond of their ceramic pottery lamps. These lamps also come in three different colors, too.
Not to mention you can also create personalized items, like Ceramic Coffee Mugs.
Recently I received a beautiful ceramic handmade vase from Emerson Pottery, and when I first held this in my hand I could just feel the quality. It was light weight, but at the same time it was also fairly thick. It was about six inches high and three inches across at the top. It was a delicate, pretty design, and when my mom took a look at this, she commented that this was a vase that seemed like something Picasso would have wanted to draw.

This is the perfect vase for delicate flowers. For a day when you are walking in an open field and begin to collect wildflowers. When you come back hot, sticky and smelling of something like sunshine and honeysuckle. This is the vase you would chose to display your collection.
To purchase an Emerson Pottery piece is to purchase an experience. This will most definitely stand out in your home. While their pieces aren't the big shouting pieces that you may usually like to have, their quality and creative designs far outweigh their delicate size.
I am also proud to announce that I get to give one of my readers the vase that I received from Emerson Pottery!

Contest will end January 31st. I will be updating this post at that time to announce the winner.
UPDATE: The winning entry is # 67 - Karen Propes. I allow 48 hours to go by before I have to announce a new winner. I did not hear from the previous winner in time, so I awarded the prize next to winning entry # 19 (thanks to Random.org) - entrant Linda Kwolek. I am having a rotten time awarding this prize! 48 hours later, I am having to re-roll for a new winner - this time it's entrant Amanda Hoffman.
If you have found this contest after the ending of the giveaway, and you still want to purchase a product from Emerson, please use this coupon through the end of February - worldofim.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary vase in exchange for my honest review.
